Bring Jobs and Growth to Massachusetts
Building resort-style casinos in Massachusetts will create thousands of jobs in construction, the service industry, and the non-casino private sector through small business development. Gaming will also provide nearly $3 billion in new capital investment in the state’s economy, and generate $400-600 million in new tax revenue – revenue the state can spend on schools, roads, healthcare and much more.
In such a tough economic climate, gaming will help jumpstart our economy and help us pay for vital government services.
Consider that casinos in Connecticut employee 19,000 workers. And one third of that is thanks to us – Massachussets residents – who spent nearly $1 billion in gaming in New England last year. In 2008, Massachusetts residents generated nearly $211 million in tax revenue – for Connecticut and Rhode Island! It’s time for Massachusetts to benefit from the gaming our residents are already doing.
